The War on Drugs have returned with new single ‘Who’s That’, their first new studio recording since 2022.

Built by bandleader Adam Granduciel at his Burbank studio compound, the track is a widescreen, heartland-leaning return, propelled by a full band arrangement. Granduciel has said the song came together quickly, “written in 10 minutes somewhere between first coffee and school drop off,” and reflects on the difficulty of loving yourself despite anxiety, depression and self-doubt getting in the way of the life you actually want.

The single arrives with a video directed by Max Flick, following Granduciel on a surreal late-night walk through the streets of Burbank.

‘Who’s That’ is out now.
