When it comes to pushing boundaries, few do it quite like Joe Thornalley, better known as Vegyn.
The British producer, whose work has graced tracks by Frank Ocean and Travis Scott, is bringing his signature style to a revered classic. Get ready for Blue Moon Safari, a reimagining of AIR’s iconic 1998 debut, Moon Safari.
Known for his genre-defying, labyrinthine approach to music, Vegyn is about transformation. His latest project takes AIR’s downtempo masterpiece, which famously fused dreamy synths, groovy bass lines, and lush melodies, and flips it on its head, with a sound that feels distinctly his own.
Blue Moon Safari preserves the essence of the original while adding Vegyn’s unmistakable flair.
The tracklist has already dropped, teasing a fresh yet familiar take on a genre-defining album. If you’re into unique formats, Blue Moon Safari will also be available on a striking blue vinyl, wrapped in a transparent sleeve. That’s a whole lot of cool for your turntable.
But the surprises don’t stop there. The release coincides with AIR’s return to the stage for their third international tour leg, kicking off in March 2025. It’s the perfect time to revisit Moon Safari, but with Vegyn’s reimagining offering an exciting new way to experience it.
As AIR celebrates the 25th anniversary of their game-changing album, Vegyn’s version of Moon Safari is ready to steal the spotlight, adding another layer of magic to a timeless classic.
