London duo Wargasm have dropped their latest single and video, ‘Small World Syndrome’, laying bare their escape from the “industry machine” and diving headfirst into a dystopian vision of modern life.
The track challenges cultural homogenisation and urban decay, with Milkie Way and Sam Matlock biting into the frustration of disappearing “magic”. “They replaced sulphur street lamps with day glow bulbs… Maybe the world’s not smaller – there’s just less in it,” they explain, embedding their sentiment into the fabric of the song.
The accompanying video, produced by Wargasm and Haris Nukem, takes that concept further into bizarre territory; lobotomy parlours, hench prisoners, and even political clowning. “Somehow it still doesn’t seem surreal as the mindfuck world we actually inhavit,” the band add.
These visuals arrive as Wargasm gear up for two major live runs. First, they’ll play an intimate, phone-free headline show at London’s immersive Outernet on 28th September, supported by Tropic Gold and Filthy Pig. Then, in November, they’ll hit the road with Electric Callboy and Bury Tomorrow across arenas in Copenhagen, Oslo, London Alexandra Palace, Berlin, and more. Tickets are available now.
Having blasted onto the scene with their 2022 mixtape Explicit: The Mixxxtape, and officially debuting full-length Venom in 2023 to praise for its anarchic mix of nu-metal, punk, and rave, Wargasm have been lauded as part of the new wave of alt-metal. Their headline shows and festival slots, including touring with Slipknot and Yungblud, have cemented their volatile reputation.
‘Small World Syndrome’ stands as a furious follow-up to April’s ‘Vigilantes’, reinforcing their states as “the riot you wish you started.”
