Wolf Alice have released a stunning new Spotify Live Room session, sharing string-backed performances of The Clearing highlights ‘Midnight Song’ and ‘Play It Out’.
Filmed at Spotify’s award-winning Mateo Studios in Los Angeles, the performances capture the band in an intimate, cinematic setting, with a string quartet weaving around Ellie Rowsell’s vocals. It’s a stripped-back but powerful showcase of the emotional depth that underpins their fourth album.
The Clearing topped the UK Albums Chart earlier this year and has since been shortlisted for the 2025 Mercury Prize, making Wolf Alice the only band in the prize’s history to have every album nominated. The record has also pushed their monthly Spotify listeners to almost five million.
Currently on a global tour, the band are set to return to the UK in November, including two sold-out nights at London’s O2 Arena on 2nd and 3rd December.
Spotify’s Live Room series invites artists to record two songs live in Studio A, with the resulting videos hosted on YouTube and the audio made available on the streaming platform.
You can watch Wolf Alice’s Live Room performances now and hear the tracks on Spotify.
