Ed Sheeran has won another copyright case that alleged his 2014 hit \u2018Thinking Out Loud\u2019 plagiarised from Marvin Gaye\u2019s classic soul track \u2018Let\u2019s Get It On\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The verdict comes two weeks after <\/span>he was victorious in another court case<\/span><\/a> that concerned the same two tracks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The case that was decided in favour of Sheeran today had been brought against the popstar by Structured Asset Sales (SAS), a company owned by investment banker David Pullman, who also owns parts of \u2018Let\u2019s Get It On\u2019 that were originally copyrighted to the song\u2019s co-writer Ed Townsend.<\/span><\/p>\n

A district judge in Manhattan, Louis Stanton, however, dismissed the most recent case, ruling that the parts of \u2018Let\u2019s Get It On\u2019 Sheeran was accused of infringing were too common for copyright protection.<\/span><\/p>\n

Townsend\u2019s heirs had been behind the case two weeks ago, with the verdict having been decided by a jury only a matter of hours before the release of Sheeran\u2019s sixth studio album, <\/span>\u2013 (Subtract)<\/a>.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Regarding the latest decision, Sheeran\u2019s attorney, Ilene Farkas, said the rule to dismiss the case was \u201can important victory not only for Ed\u201d and his co-writer Amy Wadge, \u201cbut for all songwriters and consumers of
