Heartworms, described by Dazed as “the fearless new voice of British post-punk,” returns with her first new music since last year’s single ‘May I Comply’. Produced by Dan Carey, ‘Jacked’ blends the rhythmic influences of Depeche Mode, Killing Joke, and New Order with the lyrical dexterity of PJ Harvey. Heartworms explains, “‘Jacked’ explores a darkness or entity which you are running away from… but it is really you that holds it.”

The music video for ‘Jacked’ was directed by long-time collaborator Gilbert Trejo. Trejo remarks, “To me, ‘Jacked’ is the soundtrack to a paranoid fever dream. We wanted her in flight, but she had to be alone in the world. I went through and scratched everyone else’s face off of the film emulsion with a safety pin. That feeling of loneliness and the unknown. Scary and hilarious.”

Heartworms’ debut EP, A Comforting Notion, received critical acclaim and its singles were featured on the BBC Radio 6 Music playlist. Heartworms’ live performances, featuring a full band, are known for their intensity and theatrical flair. Describing her stage presence, she notes, “On stage, my projection is the very antithesis: we see an artist who is big, powerful, in total control.”
