Horsebeach’s Ryan Kennedy announces fifth album ‘Things To Keep Alive’

From Beatles-esque balladry to fuzzed out shoegaze.

Ryan Kennedy Things To Keep Alive

After the introspective tones of 2019’s The Unforgiving Current, Ryan Kennedy from Horsebeach is back with his fifth album, Things To Keep Alive, set for release on 15th March 2024.

This new release follows his move back to Manchester from Tokyo, but it’s far from a step back. Instead, Kennedy channels his experiences into exploring mental health progress through his music. You can pre-order the album here.

Things To Keep Alive promises to merge Beatles-style ballads, shoegaze layers, and even a lavish cover of a 2000s pop hit. But at its core, the album holds onto the quintessential Horsebeach sound.

Ryan shares his personal connection with the album, saying, “Each album is a snapshot of a period in my life. Things To Keep Alive is about the mental space I’ve occupied recently. It’s a reflection of my struggles with depression and the longing for escape, but also about finding joy in caring for my cats, plants, and loved ones.

“This care has extended to myself too. Musically, the album revisits earlier themes but opens up to new sounds. I’ve spent more time on this album, and I hope that care and nurturing shine through in the songs.”

Here’s the track lineup for Things To Keep Alive:

  1. A Friend By The Lake
  2. In The Shadow Of Her
  3. A Fault In All Of Us
  4. Things To Keep Alive
  5. Let Me Stay In Tonight
