Manchester’s Pastel are set to kick off 2025 in style with the release of their debut album, Souls in Motion, on 17th January. The album is already generating buzz, featuring fan favourites such as ‘Deeper Than Holy’ and the current single ‘Leave A Light On (A Velvet Storm)’, with its first pre-order allocation selling out in minutes.

Guitarist James Yates described the record as “an album we feel people have been waiting 20 years for,” rooted in the band’s Manchester upbringing and their “positive dazed outlook.”

Produced by J. Fender of Afflecks Palace and featuring cinematic touches from director Charlie Lightening – known for his work with Liam Gallagher and Paul McCartney – Souls in Motion promises an expansive and ambitious sound. The latest single, ‘Leave A Light On (A Velvet Storm)’, steps into slow-burning anthem territory, drawing comparisons to Let It Bleed-era Rolling Stones and The Verve’s A Northern Soul.

Ahead of the album release, Pastel will join The Twang for a December UK tour, hitting venues like Manchester’s O2 Ritz and London’s Electric Ballroom. In February and March 2025, the band will embark on their biggest headline tour yet, playing iconic venues such as Glasgow’s King Tut’s and London’s Dome.

The band’s rising profile extends beyond music. Frontman Jack Yates and cousin James feature in the upcoming Trailer Park Boys film Standing On the Shoulders of Kitties, alongside stars like Billy Bob Thornton and Ronnie Wood. Directed by Charlie Lightening, the film hits cinemas on 6th December.

From their humble beginnings at a Stone Roses gig vow to start a band, Pastel’s journey has been marked by festival slots, chart-topping EPs, and support from heavyweights like Liam Gallagher. With Souls in Motion, they’re poised for an even bigger 2025. Tickets for their tours are ON SALE NOW.
