A new trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods has arrived, with it being announced the much-anticipated sequel and DC Universe’s first release of the year will come to cinemas on 17 March.
It’s been a slightly convoluted road to this point. Shazam! Fury of the Gods was originally slated for release on 1 April 2022 before being pushed back. The new trailer, which can be found below, is the first look since an initial trailer debuted at ComicCon 2022.
Following the events of the first movie, Billy Batson and his foster siblings now have the powers of the gods and all have adult Super Hero alter-egos.
It’s a big moment following a tumultuous time at DC, with its new parent company Warner Bros Discovery. Recent dramas include shelving the completed Batgirl and Henry Cavill leaving his role as Superman.
Zachary Levi, the star of Shazam, spoke about the situation. “We should always be trying to tap into as many audiences as possible, making as many people as happy as possible.“That’s what we’re in entertainment for, and I think that’s what Peter and James are really trying to do, and it’s not an easy position. They got handed all of these things that were already in a lot of conflict.
“So guys, just f**king give them a break. Take it easy. Take a breath.”
