The Oscars of the gaming industry, The Game Awards, took place last night, 8 December, in Los Angeles.
God of War: Ragnarok was already a frontrunner going into the prestigious evening, with 10 nominations, and it took home six awards in total.
But while Christopher Judge won Best Performance for this take on Kratos, the titular god of war, the game couldn’t quite make it out on top.

Instead, it was Elden Ring that was crowned the Game of the Year. Elden Ring went home with four awards in total.
The night came to a bizarre end as a stranger took over the microphone, rambling on about “reformed orthodox rabbi Bill Clinton.” The young man simply followed the Elden Ring crew on stage and then took over the microphone, confusing the entire audience.
It was later confirmed that the intruder was arrested.
The evening also held a lot of announcements. Idris Elba will be starring in Cyberpunk 2077’s new DLC, dropping next year and Hideo Kojima confirmed he is working on Death Stranding 2.

There were also plenty of trailers to get you through to next year when all these amazing games, including Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Final Fantasy 16 become available.
