Aldous Harding announces new album Train On The Island

Aldous Harding has announced details of her new album Train On The Island, set for release on 8th May 2026 via 4AD.

The record marks Harding’s first full-length release since Warm Chris in 2022 and continues her long-running collaboration with producer John Parish, known for his work with PJ Harvey and Dry Cleaning. Recording sessions took place at Rockfield Studios, the legendary Welsh studio whose history stretches back to recordings by Queen, Oasis and countless others.

The ten-track album is introduced by new single ‘One Stop’, a piece that highlights Harding’s gift for elliptical songwriting and subtle theatricality. While her signature minimalism remains intact, the track moves with an unusual sense of directness, hinting at a more melodic and outward-facing direction.

The song builds steadily before cresting into a striking finale, accompanied by a Harding-led video directed by Michelle Henning. As ever, her delivery balances poise and oddness, slipping between character and confessional tone with quiet precision.

Since emerging in the mid-2010s, Harding has developed a reputation for shape-shifting songwriting that sits somewhere between folk tradition, art pop and experimental theatre. Albums such as Designer and Warm Chris established her as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary indie music, with critics often noting the tension between the intimacy of her arrangements and the surreal quality of her lyrics.

Harding will support the album with live dates later this spring. A second London show has now been added at the Barbican Centre on 31st May, with tickets going on sale at 10:00 on 6th March 2026.

Train On The Island arrives on 8th May 2026.
