A Brooklyn teenager with a Newport Folk Festival debut and a single that sounds like it has been distilled from years of patience: Belle Blue is one to watch, and 'Wash' makes that case plainly.

Belle Blue has shared new single ‘Wash’, ahead of her East Coast summer tour and debut appearance at Newport Folk Festival on 24th July.

The Brooklyn songwriter is 16 years old. ‘Wash’ addresses the quiet, undramatic nature of growth and letting go: a relationship that never fully materialised but left its mark, and the process of setting it down without ceremony. “Growth isn’t always dramatic,” she has said. “Sometimes it’s quiet. Sometimes it’s just deciding to stop carrying something that isn’t yours anymore.”

The track is built on acoustic foundations, gentle and unhurried, with vivid lyrical imagery that documents the experience of a connection suspended between desire and realisation. The writing is mature and specific in equal measure, a quality that has drawn early press attention and led to the Newport invitation.

The East Coast run visits Philadelphia and Asbury Park before a hometown Brooklyn show on 20th July, with the Newport Folk Festival debut on 24th July closing the run.
