Bleech 9:3 have released new single ‘Figure 8’. The track teams the Irish-rooted band with Dan Carey, the Speedy Wunderground labelhead whose credits include Fontaines D.C. and Kae Tempest.

‘Figure 8’ carries a crushing intensity, built on a rawer, more barbed kind of emotional openness. The band have described it simply as “the product of crying quietly so your flatmates don’t hear you.”

Bleech 9:3 are led by the songwriting partnership of Baz Quinlan and Sam Duffy, who met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in 2022, with Quinlan later becoming Duffy’s sponsor, before the pair moved together from Dublin to London in 2024. The full band is rounded out by bassist James Quinlan and drummer Luke O’Neill.

The single follows the band’s self-titled debut EP, released in May via Polydor Records, a five-track collection made up of ‘Jacky’, ‘Underrated’, ‘Cannonball’, ‘No Surprise’ and ‘Ceiling’, which drew praise from The Guardian, NME and Kerrang!.

Since then, the band have barely stopped touring, playing The Great Escape, Latitude and Reading & Leeds, and supporting Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Wunderhorse across Ireland and the UK. Bleech 9:3 will tour again this autumn, including an already sold-out show at London’s Electric Ballroom.

‘Figure 8’ is out now.
