British Independent Film Awards 2022 | Aftersun cleans out with seven awards

The prestigious British Independent Film Awards took place on Sunday, 4 December and Charlotte Wells’ Aftersun was the big winner of the night.

Aftersun, which we awarded the full five stars, tells the story of a father and daughter on a budget holiday together. The film won a total of seven awards, including Best British Independent Film and Best Screenplay. Wells also took home the Best Director awards and no wonder. Here’s what we had to say about the abilities: “Wells’ direction is remarkable in its confidence and clarity. Aftersun is a visual marvel; it recreates those slightly crappy childhood holidays with precision and care, affection even.” Rosy McEwen won Best Performance and Kerrie Hayes Best Supporting Performance for their work in Blue Jean.
