Wunderhorse have announced their largest UK and Ireland tour to date for autumn 2024, coinciding with the release of their forthcoming album Midas, set to arrive on 30th August via Communion Records (pre-order here).

Recorded at Minnesota’s Pachyderm Studio, known for producing Nirvana’s In Utero and PJ Harvey’s Rid of Me, the album was produced by Craig Silvey, whose credits include The Rolling Stones and Florence + the Machine. Midas is the band’s second LP, following their 2022 debut Cub.

Frontman Jacob Slater explained the recording process for the new album: “When we first went into the studio to make this record, the only thing we were sure about is how we wanted it to sound; very imperfect, very live, very raw; no frills. We wanted it to sound like your face is pressed up against the amplifiers, like you’ve been locked inside the bass drum.”

The band’s upcoming headline tour will see them perform at larger, iconic venues, including a stop at London’s Brixton Academy on 10th October. This follows the release of their new single ‘July’, which is available to stream now:

Since the release of their debut album Cub, Wunderhorse has gained a growing audience, performing at major festivals like Glastonbury and selling out venues such as Kentish Town’s O2 Forum. The band’s members—guitarist Harry Fowler, drummer Jamie Staples, and bassist Peter Woodin—have evolved into a fully-formed unit, moving past the solo era of Wunderhorse.

Jacob Slater’s journey has been marked by transformation. After the disbandment of his former punk band Dead Pretties, he retreated to Cornwall, where he rekindled his love for songwriting while working as a surf instructor. This period of introspection laid the foundations for Wunderhorse’s music.

Wunderhorse’s autumn tour dates include:
