Ocean’s set – in which he gave fans an update on a new album – had in fact commenced an hour later than scheduled.

Since Ocean’s set wrapped-up, a few extra details have come to light, including the singer’s injured ankle and the fact he reportedly scrapped an onstage ice rink at the last minute. With that all in mind, the 25-minute overspill is in fact fairly impressive; or, looking at it another way, another disappointment for fans.

Pitchfork reports that the fines are part of an agreement in place between Coachella’s parent company, Goldenvoice, and the city of Indio, which was first agree to in 2013.

Details of the agreement mean that going five minutes past curfew will result in a daily fine of $20,000, with every minute after that costing $1,000 per minute.

The money accrued from these fines go towards Indio’s General Fund, used to service operating costs, public works, and the police and fire departments.
