David Bowie documentary Moonage Daydream gets a flashy full trailer

The documentary is the first of its kind to be made with the approval of David Bowie’s estate and the doc is getting good word of mouth.

David Bowie Montage Dream

Directed by Brett Morgen, Moonage Daydream includes plenty of never-before-seen footage of the legendary singer. The new, full trailer reveals more than the teaser we got two months ago and it seems that we are in for a treat.

Moonage Daydream will feature several of the artist’s songs and Morgen had access to thousands of hours of rare footage to create a film that will go deeper than any previous documentary or fictional film about Bowie.

Johnny Flynn played Bowie in 2020’s Stardust, which was largely panned by the critics and hated by the audiences, proving just how difficult it is to translate someone’s life onto the big screen. Morgen clearly isn’t afraid to try something new, however.

The film had its world premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and the trailer is full of admiring pull quotes from top outlets and critics.

Morgen’s documentary uses the kaleidoscopic, space-inspired imagery David Bowie was so fond of to create an all-encompassing look at the life of a visionary artist. The film gets its name from Bowie’s 1971 track of the same name, which featured on his album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

Moonage Daydream is set to hit cinemas on September 16, so there’s a while still before we can experience it for ourselves, but in the meantime, we shall just bask in the glory of this trailer.
