DMA’S unveil new single ‘My Baby’s Place’ to launch new era

DMA’S have returned with a new single titled ‘My Baby’s Place’, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Sydney trio.

The track arrives alongside a new video and finds the band leaning into the melodic, emotionally direct songwriting that has defined their career. Built around a sense of nostalgia and reflection, ‘My Baby’s Place’ balances warmth with a more vulnerable lyrical perspective.

Guitarist Matt Mason explains that the song developed over time, beginning with its core themes before reaching a point of resolution later on.

“‘My Baby’s Place’ began with the verses, written around a back and forth between gratitude and destitution,” he says. “I finished the choruses last year, at a time when a few chapters were closing and it all clicked.”

The track was recorded independently by the band in their studio in Glebe, Sydney, with the group taking full control of the production. That approach gives the song a sense of immediacy while retaining the expansive, singalong quality that has become a hallmark of their sound.

Its release comes at a significant moment for DMA’S. 2026 marks ten years since their debut album Hills End, a record that helped establish them as one of Australia’s most recognisable guitar bands. To celebrate the anniversary, the trio will play a one-off, sold-out show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre on 27th March.

Since that debut, DMA’S have built a substantial catalogue, releasing four studio albums, Hills End, For Now, THE GLOW, and How Many Dreams?. Each has performed strongly commercially, with their later records reaching the upper end of the UK album charts.

Beyond album releases, the band have amassed over 500 million streams, earned multiple ARIA nominations and secured a win for Best Group in 2023. Their cover of Cher’s ‘Believe’ also became a defining moment, topping triple j’s Hottest 100 Like A Versions of All Time.

Comprised of Johnny Took, Matt Mason and Tommy O’Dell, DMA’S continue to refine a sound rooted in anthemic songwriting while opening the door to new ideas.

‘My Baby’s Place’ is out now.
