Margate psych pop outfit Tokyo Tea Room have released their new album, Feel Forever, ahead of their debut tour across the UK, US and Europe, starting this month.
Written by guitarist and vocalist Dan Elliott, the album was created in Margate over the English summer, its sound mirroring that coastal setting. Elliott has described the record as exploring the impermanent nature of human emotion, drawing on fleeting moments of feeling that can be both powerful and inconsequential, calling it “a mix of the good, the bad and the strange.”
Opening track ‘Hypnotised’ sets the album’s tone, arriving with an animated video from New York artist Chris Mulligan, alongside earlier previews ‘All Night’ and ‘Eyes Off You’, with ‘Leave You’ also among the record’s tracks.
Tokyo Tea Room, Dan Elliott, Beth Dunn, Ben Marshall, Sam Teather and Max Taylor, had been making music together casually for several years before their early recordings, built on disaffected vocals, smoky basslines and themes of longing, spread well beyond South East England, surpassing 100 million streams. Their first cluster of UK and US shows around six months ago sold out entirely.
The band now embark on a 31-date tour across the UK, US and Europe.
