Reminiscent of Steve McQueen’s superb 12 Years A Slave, Emancipation looks like it might be one for the ages. Ben Foster and Charmaine Bingwa star alongside Smith and the film is written by William N. Collage. Smith is also producing the film while Fuqua is credited as an executive producer. We’ll have to wait and see if Smith has redeemed himself enough to garner some recognition in next year’s awards cycle.
