Haim have released a new collaboration with Bon Iver titled ‘Tie You Down’, the first of three additional songs to appear on the deluxe edition of their album I Quit, arriving on 17th October.
Softly arranged and emotionally direct, the track finds the Haim sisters and Justin Vernon in a moment of shared reflection. “Put your little heart in me now / Ain’t this how it’s supposed to be? / I want you here / But I don’t know how / Not to tie you down,” they sing together, their harmonies intertwined with Bon Iver’s familiar falsetto.
The collaboration continues a mutual admiration between the two camps. Earlier this year, Danielle Haim appeared on Bon Iver’s ‘If Only I Could Wait’, taken from his SABLE fABLE project. Here, that connection feels fully realised, their voices weaving through understated production that leaves space for the song’s emotional weight.
Alongside ‘Tie You Down’, I Quit (Deluxe Edition) will include two other new tracks, ‘The Story of Us’ and ‘Even the Bad Times’. The expanded version rounds out an album already defined by its introspection and restraint — a work that NME described as being “set at a crossroads in the grieving process, when lessons have already been learned, but the pain of memories still linger.”
Released earlier this year, I Quit marked a shift for Haim, stripping away the breezier pop of Women in Music Pt. III for something rawer and more internal. The new material appears to deepen that focus, bridging loss, renewal and the enduring bonds of family.
Haim are also preparing to head out on a UK arena tour later this month, their first since the release of I Quit. The run begins on 24th October in Nottingham before heading to Cardiff, Brighton, London, Manchester and Glasgow.
I Quit (Deluxe Edition) is out 17th October via Polydor Records.
