Jeremy Renner, the actor known as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was taken to hospital on New Year’s Day after a weather-related incident. BBC News has reported the accident that happened while Renner was ploughing snow outside his home in Nevada. Renner’s representation has confirmed that the actor is in critical, but stable condition and has undergone surgery. He is currently in an intensive care unit. “Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families,” said a statement from Renner’s representatives. “They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.” Many areas of the US have encountered heavy snowfall and very cold temperatures. Renner was clearing the road so his family could get out after the snow storm that hit Nevada over the New Years’ weekend. TMZ reported that one of Renner’s neighbours saw the snow plough, owned by Renner, run over one of the actor’s legs. Renner, now 51, is a two-time Oscar nominee for his performances in The Hurt Locker and The Town. He is due to appear in the second season of Mayor of Kingstown, which will stream on Paramount+ in two weeks time.
