Little Simz has revealed the release date for her highly anticipated sixth studio album, Lotus, which is set to arrive on 9th May 2025.
Along with the announcement, she has dropped the first single from the album, ‘Flood’, featuring Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly.
‘Flood’ kicks off with a heavy drumbeat that sets a bold tone for the track. Simz delivers her lyrics with a powerful, raspy intensity, seamlessly fitting into the track’s infectious grooves. The collaboration with Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly adds wonderfully to the song.
The title of Lotus reflects themes of renewal and growth, both in Simz’s personal journey and the album’s exploration of life’s changing phases. Following the introspective depth of Sometimes I Might Be Introvert and the energetic honesty of NO THANK YOU, Lotus promises to continue Simz’s evolution as an artist.
The music video for ‘Flood’, directed by Salomon Ligthelm, gives a preview of the visual world of Lotus. It’s a striking and high-energy introduction to what’s sure to be an exciting new chapter.
Simz has become one of the UK’s most celebrated artists, winning Brit Awards, MOBOs, and an Ivor Novello, and gaining recognition for both her music and acting. Her live performances, including a standout set at Glastonbury 2023, have further solidified her reputation. With Lotus on the horizon and her role as curator for this year’s Meltdown festival, it’s clear Simz is continuing to break boundaries.
As she embarks on this next phase, the release of Lotus is shaping up to be another defining moment in her career.
