Maxïmo Park are making a triumphant comeback, dropping their latest single, ‘The End Can Be As Good As The Start’, today.

It’s yet another gem from their upcoming album, Stream Of Life, an upbeat alt-pop-rocker of a song about hope and sticking together through thick and thin (a message we can all get behind, I’m sure).

Frontman Paul Smith describes it as a song about “faith, solidarity and sustaining relationships in the face of society’s structural hurdles.” Sounds rather deep for a pop song, doesn’t it? But that’s Maxïmo Park for you – making us think as we tap our feet.

Last month, the band gave us a sneak peek of the album with ‘Your Own Worst Enemy’, a track about the frustrating habit of making the same mistakes over and over. But with ‘The End Can Be As Good As The Start’, they’re flipping the script and looking towards a brighter future.

And they’re not just making music; they’re already out on the road, playing sold-out shows across the UK and Europe. Lucky fans in Newcastle even got a special election-night performance last week, raising money for local foodbanks.

Stream Of Life is the first time since 2016 that the band has reunited with Grammy-winning producer Ben Allen and producer Burke Reid. Paul Smith was inspired by the stream-of-consciousness style of Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector, and it’s clear that this influence has shaped both the sound and the themes of the album.

Smith says, “We’ve always tried to document the world around us at each stage of our lives while subtly nudging the music forward each time – this record continues that mission. It was great to be back in a studio after recording remotely last time.”
