Power Rangers star Jason David Frank dies aged 49

Jason David Frank was best known for his portrayal of the White Ranger in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers through the 90s.

It’s been a tough month for the kids of the 1990s. A lot of our childhood heroes are leaving us. First Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman and now Jason David Frank. 

The news of Frank’s death broke on Sunday, November 20. 

The actor first appeared in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in 1993. The show ran for three consecutive years but constantly returned with new iterations and adaptations.

Frank originally portrayed the Green Ranger, introduced as a villain. The character had a change of heart later and turned into the White Ranger to keep Frank in the role after it proved popular with fans. 

Frank’s representative confirmed the news of his death to Yahoo. 

Justine Hunt said, via email to Yahoo: “Unfortunately, it is true. Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being.”

“He loved his family, friends and fans very much. He will be truly missed.”

While no official cause of death has been released, many outlets have reported the death as a suicide.

Friends and fans have taken to social media to share their memories of Frank and his impact on their lives. His co-star Walter Jones, who played Black Ranger Zack originally, shared an emotional Instagram post, saying: “My heart is sad to have lost another member of our special family.”
