Rust Producers ‘Confident’ Of Completing Movie To ‘Honour’ Halyna Hutchins

The producers of Rust are ‘confident’ they’ll be able to finish the Alec Baldwin western, and would like to do so in honour of Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer accidentally shot and killed by Balwin on set.

The producers of Rust are ‘confident’ they’ll be able to finish the Alec Baldwin western, and would like to do so in honour of Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer accidentally shot and killed on set. 


Baldwin is currently in Cannes with the movie’s co-producer, Anjul Nigam. Clarifying earlier comments made to the Hollywood Reporter, Nigam said he was “confident the film could be completed”, though cautioned there was “no actual plan.” He added, “Many of those who were involved hope to honour Halyna by completing her last work.”

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed on the Rust set seven months ago. The incident remains under investigation by the Santa Fe Sheriff’s office. Rust’s director, Joel Souza, was also injured. 

Since the fatal shooting, the New Mexico environment department has imposed its maximum fine of $136,793 on Rust Movie Productions for “serious and wilful” failures.
