Taking place in Brockwell Park on Saturday 25 May, the eclectic festival had already announced King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Mercury Prize-winning Young Fathers and shoegaze pioneers Slowdive on its billing.
They then added yet more zest, with post-punk outfit Dry Cleaning, PC Music’s Hannah Diamond, and female punk band Lambrini Girls among the further names.
And now, a month add, there’s still more names, with South Londoners Fat Dog, who are carving a name for themselves as a lve tour de force, queer avant-gardist Lynks and New Orleans DIY outfit Special Interest.
Texas-based multi-instrumentalists Being Dead (who gave us a wild little interview last year), and experimental psych quartet Plantoid are also on the lineup.
Wide Awake is brought to you by Bad Vibrations, LNZRT and the crew behind MOTH Club and The Shacklewell Arms; an independent festival that promises to be for music fans looking to discover something different, with the best in leftfield indie, post-punk, electronica, techno and more.
Aside from the music, there’s a range of talks and workshops to dive into; independent, anti-capitalist, ad-free publication hate zine is hosting a zine fair, whilst How To Catch A Pig Liv Wynter stages a discussion on being a DIY political artist, among the many talks and workshops available.
Wide Awake have also announced their partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières, the humanitarian medical care charity known for its projects in conflict zones and in countries affected by endemic diseases.
