Indie-folk sensation Searows (Alec Duckart) is back with his new EP flush, set to be released on 22nd November via Last Recordings On Earth. Alongside this announcement, Searows has dropped the deeply personal single ‘toothache’. The track delves into themes of self-worth, exploring the moment of letting go of people-pleasing and reclaiming authenticity.
Duckart describes the song as a reflection of his own experience: “I think this song is about learning how to let go of the need to make other people feel comfortable at the cost of your own dignity and personhood.” This heartfelt honesty is what fans have come to expect from Searows, who first made waves with his TikTok snippets of unadorned songwriting, earning him a dedicated following.
The flush EP follows Searows’ well-received End of the World EP from 2023 and takes his heartfelt songwriting to the next level. Drawing on influences from gothic fiction and body horror, the new EP digs deeper into themes of personal relationships and self-identity. Produced by Jonathan Pearce (The Beths), the record includes tracks like ‘martingale’, where Searows blends emotional vulnerability with his signature layered sound.
Searows’ career took off after his debut album Guard Dog (2022), which he recorded alone on GarageBand. His introspective lyricism has earned him comparisons to artists like Phoebe Bridgers and Sufjan Stevens.
