Madrid indie band Hinds have revealed their much-anticipated fourth album, Viva Hinds, alongside the release of its electrifying lead single ‘Boom Boom Back’ featuring Beck. The album, marking a series of firsts for the band, including Spanish language tracks and notable collaborations, is set for release on 6th September 2024 through Lucky Number.
The band, originally known as Deers, changed their name to Hinds following a legal challenge. The enthusiastic fan chants of “¡VIVA HINDS!” at their shows transformed what seemed like a setback into a new beginning. Co-founders Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote, facing multiple challenges after their 2020 album The Prettiest Curse, found renewed creativity and connection, leading to what they describe as their most “accomplished, sonically adventurous, honest and celebratory” album to date.
Speaking of their enduring bond and creative resurgence, Perrote and Cosials emphasised, “We are millionaires in friendship,” highlighting the deep personal connection that helped them navigate the adversities.
Viva Hinds was crafted in rural France with producer Pete Robertson and features a range of collaborations, including with Fontaines D.C.’s Grian Chatten. The album’s recording involved Grammy-nominated engineer Tom Roach and Grammy-winning mixer Caesar Edmunds.
The release of ‘Boom Boom Back’ was accompanied by a music video directed by Perote and Cosials, showcasing the band’s distinct charm (watch below). The single, described as hypnotic, marks a significant moment in their musical evolution.
Hinds has already commenced their 2024 tour, playing sold-out shows across Europe and a headline show at Lafayette in London scheduled for 13th September. Further dates include performances in Mexico City and across the United States in October.
Reflecting on their journey and the essence of Viva Hinds, Cosials shared, “This isn’t a rational album, this is made with emotions, in no specific order… It’s heart-driven.”
