Stereophonics have revealed details of their long-awaited thirteenth studio album, Make ‘Em Laugh, Make ‘Em Cry, Make ‘Em Wait. Set for release on 25th April 2025, this album promises to deliver the band’s signature sound with a fresh twist.
The announcement comes with the release of the new single, ‘There’s Always Gonna Be Something’, a track that sets the stage for the album’s evocative journey.
‘There’s Always Gonna Be Something’ is a departure from the usual Stereophonics fare, weaving a mix of choral guitars and a lingering bass that compliments Kelly Jones’ trademark gravelly vocals.
The lyrics, both haunting and reflective, invite us to peel back the layers with every listen.
“The bayonet tongue of silence, whispering just to remind us,” Jones sings, along with, “I leave nothing for death but bones and the solitude Jester jokes, igniting my energy and bringing me to my knees, in this 21st century, so help this sinner please, this is only one part of me – There’s Always Gonna Be Something, So What’s it Gonna Be Today.”
Jones explains, “There’s Always Gonna Be Something is a song that could be describing the restlessness in uncertainty, struggling to arrive at acceptance. A part within all of us.”
The upcoming album marks the band’s return after a series of record-breaking achievements. With 8 number 1 albums, Stereophonics have built a loyal following over the course of their three-decade career.
Make ‘Em Laugh, Make ‘Em Cry, Make ‘Em Wait features 8 tracks, each as tight and dynamic as you’d expect. The band has carefully trimmed the fat, leaving behind only the sharpest, most emotional pieces, precise and purposeful. It’s an album that will make you laugh, cry, and, well, make you wait.
Kelly Jones has always found inspiration outside the realm of music to shape his albums. For this one, a trip to New York’s galleries led him to the work of Louise Bourgeois, whose painting ART IS A GUARANTY OF SANITY spoke to him deeply.
The minimal pink aesthetic of the piece inspired the album’s strikingly simple and emotional cover art. “The spelling caught me first, then the simplicity of the words etched onto a pink tile,” says Jones. “I loved it. I loved the simplicity of the pink. The pink album was born.”

On top of the album’s release, Stereophonics will embark on a massive world tour starting this March. The tour, which has already seen over 300,000 tickets sold, will span the globe, with stops from Montreal to Madrid. Fans can expect some of the band’s most electrifying performances yet, as Stereophonics continue to prove they’ve got plenty of gas left in the tank.
