Teenage Fanclub filmed their new video on a tiny Hebridean island

Teenage Fanclub will release their thirteenth studio album, Do Not Dare to Dream, on October 9th via Merge Records.

The follow-up to 2023’s Nothing Lasts Forever is led by Norman Blake and Raymond McGinley, alongside longtime members Euros Childs, Francis Macdonald and David McGowan.

The album’s title carries a note of self-deprecation, with both McGinley and Blake describing it as a knowingly ironic dig at grand ambitions, the kind that get harder to take seriously the longer a band goes on, and the harder they are to sum up in an album title after twelve previous records.

New song ‘Day in the Sun’ is classic Fanclub: chiming guitars, layered vocals, and melodic songwriting refined over three decades. Its video was filmed on location at Black Bay Studio on Great Bernera, in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides, by Donald Milne. McGinley has pointed to the weight of the recording location’s history, reflecting that “life is short, but music is eternal.”

The album arrives alongside a full UK tour, including two nights at St Luke’s in Glasgow and a sold-out show at Hackney Church in London.
