As we patiently wait to return to Pandora in December, we can bask in the glory of the new Avatar: The Way Of Water trailer. This is a much more extensive look than the teaser trailer

Director James Cameron brings back his cast from the original, including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Stephen Lang as Colonel Quaritch who met his gruesome end at the end of Avatar but has somehow been brought back to life.

Joining them are new faces (at least to Pandora) Kate Winslet and Michelle Yeoh. Out of the entire cast, Winslet proved the most skilled at holding their breath under water during filming, reaching 7 minutes.

The new trailer also finally allows us to hear Sigourney Weaver’s voice as she returns to the franchise. Her character Grace died in the first Avatar but Weaver returns to Pandora to play Jake and Neytiri’s teenage daughter Kiri.

Weaver’s casting has been met with curiosity and confusion as the 73-year-old actress voices a teenager.

The trailer also teases the conflict of the film and it looks like Pandora is under threat from the outside world as we see some kind of robotic creatures run amidst flames.

Avatar: The Way of Water is scheduled for release on December 16.
