Lana Del Rey’s ninth album is reportedly the best-selling album on vinyl so far this year, according to the Official Charts Company.
It might have an exceptionally long name – rivalling Yves Tumor’s
Praise a Lord Who Chews but Which Does Not Consume (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds) – and it also turns out, Lana’s latest album has had exceptionally long demand for copies of it on vinyl.
That’s because Lana’s album –
which became her sixth UK Number 1 – surpassed
Pink’s Trustfall in having the strongest first-week of sales for an album this year.
In doing so, Lana had her strongest opening week since her sophomore studio album
Ultraviolence, released in 2014.

As well as strong streaming numbers,
Did you know… also sold some 20,800 copies in vinyl as of the middle of this month (15 April), according to data from the Official Charts Company.
In second place so far is
Gorillaz’ Cracker Island, which gave Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s cartoon creations their first UK Number 1 in 17 years.
Other notable aspects of the top-selling vinyl records so far this year include
Pink Floyd’s appearance not once, but twice, with a live 1974 Wembley recording of the band’s seminal album
The Dark Side Of The Moon featuring above the original record.
Courteneers’ current third-place position also came
after the band set a new record for the time taken between an album’s release and it topping the charts – with 15 years between the two in this case.

Whilst a number of classics continue to feature on the list of best-selling vinyl – from
Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, to
Nirvana’s Nevermind – there’s a number of new releases making the cut.
In fact, 21 new releases feature in the current top crop of albums on vinyl, including
Depeche Mode’s Memento Mori (9),
Slowthai’s Ugly (12) and
Sleaford Mods’ UK Grim (17).
Anyhow, here’s the current list of best-selling vinyl album so far this year.
