Iconic Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has teamed up with his daughter, Romany Gilmour, on the new track ‘Between Two Points’.

The song is part of Gilmour’s upcoming album Luck And Strange, his first release in nine years, which is scheduled to drop on 6th September via Sony Music. The album will be available in limited deluxe editions, featuring bonus tracks and a special hardback book with exclusive photographs taken by Polly Samson during the album’s recording.

The project holds a special family connection, with David and Romany previously collaborating on the song ‘Yes, I Have Ghosts’ during the lockdown. Reflecting on this collaboration, David Gilmour remarked, “I realised that Romany has exactly the right sort of vulnerability and youth for the song. In fact, she was halfway through an essay with a train to catch when we asked her: ‘OK, I’ll sing it once, put the mic on’ and that is 90 percent of the finished vocal.”

The new release ‘Between Two Points’ is a reimagined version of a 1999 track by The Montgolfier Brothers. This baroque-tinged psychedelic pop piece has been transformed by the father-daughter duo into a deeply evocative rendition. David Gilmour shared his long-standing admiration for the song, saying, “I’ve had that song on my playlist since it was released. More recently I mentioned it to one or two people: I assumed that it had been a hit, but no one knew it. I asked Romany to give it a go.”

Mark Tranmer of The Montgolfier Brothers praised the Gilmours’ version, commenting, “David and Romany’s version of our song is a great arrangement and production. Like all the best covers, it diverges from the original but keeps the spirit. Romany’s vocal phrasing of Roger Quigley’s words and the harp playing are both truly beautiful. David Gilmour’s distinctive guitar adds a whole new dimension. I still find it incredible that David and Polly chose to cover our song from all the songs out there.”

Fans can catch David Gilmour live at London’s Royal Albert Hall on October 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 14th, and 15th.
