Hey Duggee Meets Punk: IDLES release ‘Stick Song!’ cover before Glastonbury

Ahead of Glastonbury, IDLES release a unique cover of Hey Duggee’s ‘Stick Song!’, coinciding with the new series of the popular CBeebies show.

IDLES Hey Duggee

Grammy-nominated IDLES have once again surprised us with an unexpected collab, giving Hey Duggee’s ‘Stick Song!’ a vibrant guitar-based twist. This release comes just days before their highly anticipated headline performance at Glastonbury’s Other Stage (Friday, 28th June at 10:15pm).

The timing of this release is impeccable, as it coincides with a brand-new episode of Hey Duggee titled ‘The Carrot Badge,’ kicking off Series 5 of this beloved CBeebies show. This episode, celebrating the summer solstice and UK music festivals, features the Rabbits preparing for the Carrot Solstice at Carrot Henge, embodying the whimsical spirit of the series.

Joe Talbot, lead singer of IDLES, shared his excitement: “We’ve always loved Hey Duggee. Giving ‘Stick Song!’ our twist was an absolute blast. It’s a fun way to connect with our younger fans and their families.” This marks IDLES’ second recent appearance on CBeebies, following Talbot’s heartwarming reading of Under the Love Umbrella on CBeebies Bedtime Story.

IDLES’ summer tour continues with a landmark set at Glastonbury, to be broadcast on BBC Four and preceded by a pre-show interview on BBC Radio 6 Music with Huw Stephens. Their tour will wrap up with a major UK headline tour, including two massive shows at London’s Alexandra Palace.

‘The Carrot Badge’ is the first of 20 new episodes in Series 5 of Hey Duggee, produced by Studio AKA with BBC Studios Kids & Family and CBeebies. The series, created by Grant Orchard and narrated by Alexander Armstrong, has won multiple BAFTAs and an international Emmy, and continues to delight audiences with its fun adventures and educational content.

With its charming blend of humour and learning, Hey Duggee has become a family favourite since its debut in 2014, amassing over 1.36 billion streams on BBC iPlayer and 3 billion views on YouTube.
