Disney wants to turn Indiana Jones into a TV show

The fifth Indiana Jones film is still several months away, but Disney is reportedly looking for a writer to turn it into a TV show.

Indiana-Jones-5

The original Indy, Harrison Ford, has confirmed that he is done playing the archaeologist, so it makes sense that the House of Mouse would be looking at other ways to continue the popular franchise.

According to Variety, Disney has brought the subject up in meetings with writers. There’s no official word on whether the show would be a sequel, prequel or a general spin-off on Indiana Jones.

Disney might also want to tie it closely into Indiana Jones 5 to create a larger universe for Indy and co. Disney is already doing a similar thing with its Marvel and Star Wars TV shows, which have been very popular and mostly received good reviews from critics.

If the TV show does happen and proves successful, it could spawn more films with the characters it introduces, leading to a whole new future for the franchise.

The fifth instalment is scheduled to arrive on our screens next Summer. Indiana Jones 5 is directed by James Mangold and will star Ford, Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Antonio Banderas.
