Aussie singer-songwriter Peter Bibby has released new single ‘Terracotta Brick’, a slightly leftfield but poignant track from his forthcoming album Drama King, set to be released on May 31st by Spinning Top Records. The song delves into the life of a tradesperson, with Bibby drawing inspiration from his time as a bricklayer’s labourer.
Describing the genesis of the track, Bibby said, “I came up with this little ditty while I was working as a brickieโs labourer. I took a direct quote or two from the boss, he was full of great lines. He was also full of piss on a regular basis, and it got me thinking about the connection between the building industry and flat out, celebrated alcoholism.” This reflection is part of Bibby’s broader contemplation on alcoholism, influenced by his recent decision to lead an alcohol-free lifestyle.
Drama King promises to be Bibbyโs most mature work, showcasing his evolution from a hard-partying musician to thoughtful artist. The album was produced by Dan Luscombe, mixed in Los Angeles by Josh Block, and features a mix of introspection and commentary on personal growth.

Bibby also humorously addressed the choice of his album’s title, stating, “Everyone uses the term โdrama queen,โ even regardless of gender. I was thinking itโs a bit unfair to the queens to always be called โdrama queens.โ I consider ‘Drama King’ to be a woke title.”
The release of ‘Terracotta Brick’ coincides with the announcement of Bibby’s Australian tour, starting with a four-night residency at the Buffalo Club in Fremantle and continuing across major cities including Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide.
