Seven top ten albums and counting: Editors announce their return with ‘Call It In’ and a 2027 world tour

Editors new album Call It Out

Editors have shared new single ‘Call It In’ via Play It Again Sam, their first new music since 2022’s ‘EBM’, alongside details of an extensive UK and European headline tour in early 2027.

The track emerged from sessions the band spent in rural Gloucestershire in summer 2025, working together in a room in what frontman Tom Smith has described as “a more traditional band setup.” It is a song about seeking comfort in the face of anxiety and disconnection: “asking for help, really, in the presence of an existential dread, finding solace and comfort in someone close, escaping the deafening noise of modern life,” Smith has said. The video was directed by guitarist Justin Lockey.

The single arrives after a period in which Smith released his debut solo album There Is Nothing In The Dark That Isn’t There In The Light and the band continued to tour. It marks the beginning of a new chapter for a group whose seven studio albums have all reached the UK top ten, beginning with the Mercury Prize-nominated The Back Room in 2005 and running through two number one records: An End Has A Start in 2007 and In This Light and On This Evening in 2009.

The 2027 tour opens in Europe in late January before the band move through the UK and Ireland in February and March, culminating at O2 Academy Brixton in London on 11th March. Before that, a run of summer festival appearances includes Pinkpop, Splendour in Nottingham and a headline slot at the newly opened Warehouse at Villa Park in Birmingham on 9th July.
