Freak Slug has shared her new album, Amulet, in full.

Real name Xenya Genovese, the Manchester-born songwriter built the record alongside close collaborator Dylan Neustadter, merging woozy indie pop with dreamy shoegaze textures, at turns raw and at others lithe and light-laced. As artist, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Freak Slug gives Amulet a fully lived-in feel, following on from the radiance of her 2023 debut album, I Blow Out Big Candles.

Freak Slug has called Amulet “the most personal work I’ve done so far,” describing it as an expression of her spirituality without shame, tied to a narrative of a past life as a healer who once had to keep her gifts secret. She’s said the album is about owning that power confidently now, rather than hiding from it.

Amulet is out now.
