Friday The 13th prequel series in the works from Peacock and A24

Friday the 13th is getting its own prequel series, titled Crystal Lake, which will be written by Bryan Fuller.

A24 and Peacock have ordered a full series of Crystal Lake, a prequel series to the iconic horror franchise Friday the 13th

While there are no plot details available, we can assume it delves either into the history of Camp Crystal Lake, the setting for most Friday the 13th films or perhaps the summer when poor little Jason Voorhees met his end in the lake.

Bryan Fuller will write the series, while Victor Miller, the original writer, will executive produce the series with Marc Toberoff, Rob Barsamian, and A24, which will also act as the studio behind the project.

Fuller spoke excitedly of his new project: “I discovered ‘Friday the 13th’ in the pages of Famous Monsters magazine when I was ten years old, and I have been thinking about this story ever since,” Fuller said.

“When it comes to horror, A24 raises the bar and pushes the envelope, and I’m thrilled to be exploring the campgrounds of Crystal Lake under their banner.”

Friday the 13th has been a relatively dormant horror franchise since 2009’s poorly received reboot. Overall, the franchise has a whopping 12 films, all of which vary enormously in quality.

It’s a good week for horror fans as the first image of Evil Dead Rise was shared yesterday and Tobin Bell was announced to be returning to the Saw franchise. Unfortunately, we did also learn that the Urban Legend reboot has been cancelled.
