Friedberg have today dropped new single ‘My Best Friend’, a precursor to their eagerly awaited debut album scheduled for later this year. The track, notable for its exhilarating chorus and sophisticated pop nuances, was co-written and produced by the renowned Dan Carey.
Describing the vibe of the new single, frontwoman Anna Friedberg shared, “It started with a jam at his studio in South London – with just 2 guitars and a cowbell. Well… and a few cowbell hits later the song was there in its whole glory. I had such a good time making this track with Dan. It’s about non-commitment, which I am experiencing more and more in all aspects of modern society.”
The release is complemented by a music video directed by the Nüesch Sisters, which cleverly sets the band amid the bustling scenes of the London Underground during rush hour, blending the ordinary with the extraordinary as the group performs amidst the crowd.
Amidst their new music releases, Friedberg is also busy on tour, currently supporting Giant Rooks across the United States. They kicked off their tour last week and have announced dates through the end of April, with performances in iconic venues from New York’s Warsaw to Los Angeles’ Regent Theater. Following their US tour, the band is slated to support Big Special in London and Manchester this May, and will join Placebo for several dates in June.
Additionally, Friedberg is set to play at this year’s Great Escape Festival on May 17th, adding to a busy spring and summer of live performances.
With their track record of energetic and boundary-pushing music, exemplified by their early success with the single ‘Go Wild’ and appearances alongside major acts, Friedberg is poised for another landmark year in their career. Their commitment to their art and their upcoming performances across two continents promise to bring their dynamic sound to both new and loyal fans around the globe.
