Madrid’s indie duo Hinds, Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote, are back with fresh single and video, ‘The Bed, The Room, The Rain and You’.
A blend of English and Spanish lyrics, it’s a song that serves as the final sneak peek before the release of their much-anticipated new album, VIVA HINDS, set to drop on 6th September.
The journey to this album hasn’t been without its hurdles. After the release of The Prettiest Curse in 2020, Hinds found themselves at a creative crossroads. Their bassist and drummer bid farewell, their management team parted ways, and the global lockdowns put a stop to touring. It was a tough time to say the least, but Carlotta and Ana’s bond, which they liken to being “millionaires in friendship,” saw them through.
‘The Bed, The Room, The Rain and You,’ dives into the essence of love—stripped back to its most basic form. As the duo explains, “It’s a love song that has nothing to do with being with the other person or even whether it is reciprocated. We’re talking about the most simple version of it. Love is like a magic shelter that you can take everywhere with you.”
The accompanying music video, a directorial venture by the band, is a whimsical journey through imagination, friendship, and of course, music. As they put it, “For ‘The bed, the room, the rain and you,’ we wanted to finish the story with where everything started: recording the album.”
The story of Hinds is one of strength. Their early days saw them forced to change their name from Deers due to legal reasons—a move that initially felt like a setback. However, the enthusiastic “¡VIVA HINDS!” chants from their fans at shows quickly turned the tide, transforming what seemed like an end into a new beginning.
The band has already previewed several tracks from the upcoming album, including ‘Boom Boom Back’, ‘Coffee,’ ‘En Forma,’ and ‘Superstar’. VIVA HINDS promises to be a chronicle and celebration of their journey, featuring collabs with big names like Beck and Fontaines D.C.’s Grian Chatten. The album was recorded in rural France, with Pete Robertson at the production helm and contributions from top-notch industry talents like Tom Roach and Caesar Edmunds.
Hinds have been on the road this year, bringing their energetic live shows to fans across the globe. They’ve already wowed crowds in the UK, the US, and Europe, with more dates on the horizon. Their 2024 tour includes stops at London’s Electric Ballroom and numerous other iconic venues across Europe and the UK.
With VIVA HINDS on the way and a packed tour schedule, the future looks bright for Hinds. If their latest single is anything to go by, this album will be a must-listen for fans and newcomers alike.
