Indonesian trio Elephant Kind have shared a live version of new single ‘Exactly What I Needed’, to mark a limited edition vinyl release of their third studio album, More Time, out September 4th via Holiday Records and Alcopop! Records. The album itself is already out digitally.
‘Exactly What I Needed’ was written during the band’s time living in London, drawing on their exposure to the city’s house and electronic music scene. Frontman Bam Mastro has said the UK has become central to the band’s story, noting that “the UK has always given us a reason to keep coming back,” following a sold-out 2023 tour and a festival run in 2024.
More Time was recorded in London, mixed in Los Angeles, and finalised in Jakarta, developed across 2023 to 2025 during what the band have described as a period of significant change. It was self-produced by Mastro, with Iain Berryman, whose credits include Arcade Fire, Wolf Alice, beabadoobee, Sam Fender and Young Fathers, co-producing three tracks including ‘Man Enough’. Robert Adam Stevenson, known for his work with Queens of the Stone Age, KT Tunstall and Jeff Beck, handled mixing, with mastering by Christian Wright at Abbey Road Studios.
The band’s September UK tour, their first UK shows since the album’s release, follows Party of a LIVETIME, a two-part album launch series in Jakarta comprising a sold-out intimate listening party and a full live performance of the record. It builds on a strong 2025 for the band, which included sets at YNot, Tramlines and Wilderness, a sold-out headline tour, sessions for Radio X, BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing, and a Jakarta show that sold 3,000 tickets in under five minutes, their biggest to date.
