After four years of creative and personal challenges, DIIV are back with their fourth studio endeavour, Frog in Boiling Water.

Set for a May 24th, the album represents a crucial turning point for the band. Embarking on a mission to redefine their sound and approach, DIIV faced nearly insurmountable hurdles, from internal disputes to financial woes, pushing their band dynamics to the brink.

The album’s title and thematic core draw inspiration from Daniel Quinn’s ‘The Boiling Frog’ analogy, reflecting on society’s gradual acceptance of detrimental norms under late-stage capitalism. DIIV mines deep into this metaphor, offering a collection of tracks that serve as snapshots of the modern human condition. The lead single ‘Brown Paper Bag’ (listen here) encapsulates this thematic focus, weaving despair and angst through dream-pop and post-rock.

Recording Frog in Boiling Water was an exhaustive task, with sessions stretching from London to the tranquility of the Mojave. The isolation and intense work schedule led to a creative and emotional crucible as the band grappled with translating their sprawling vision into a cohesive album.

To celebrate the release, DIIV have announced a series of tour dates across the EU and UK in March, kicking off on the 5th in Utrecht, Netherlands, and concluding on March 14th in Dublin.
