Jasmine Jethwa, the South London singer-songwriter, has just dropped her latest single, ‘Hurt.’ Known for her ethereal sound blending modern folk and poetic lyrics, Jethwa’s music has been described as “stunning and entirely addictive” by Notion and likened to the haunting melodies of Joni Mitchell and Taylor Swift’s folklore era by The Line of Best Fit. NME praises her “otherworldly sound that’s entirely her own.”

In ‘Hurt,’ Jasmine explores the emotional turmoil of encountering an ex after years apart. “I wrote this song after bumping into an ex. We hadn’t seen each other in years and it stirred up a lot for me,” Jethwa shares. “I was torn between a hope that the spark I still felt meant something and letting things be as they were, completely out of each other’s lives. But I felt that, as I still cared about them, it would hurt either way to be with them, or never see them again. It’s called Hurt because it hurts loving them, but hurts when you stop loving them – doomed either way.”

Jasmine’s rise in the music scene has been nothing short of meteoric. With two sold-out headline European and UK tours and five sold-out London headline shows, including venues like Lafayette and Omeara, she has established herself as a force to be reckoned with. She’s also supported Rachel Chinouriri on tour and collaborated with notable artists like Mel C, Olivia Dean, and Ellie Roswell as part of Hope FC on ‘Call Me A Lioness,’ the official anthem for the Lionesses’ World Cup campaign. With just two EPs under her belt, Jasmine has already garnered significant support from BBC Radio 1 and various digital streaming platforms.

‘Hurt’ showcases Jasmine’s captivating ability to meld R&B-infused pop with lyrical depth. It follows her earlier single ‘Love Worth Believing,’ which was crowned BBC Radio 1’s Track of the Week and featured prominently on the current series of Love Island.

This summer, Jasmine has been making waves at UK festivals, with performances at Glastonbury and Latitude already under her belt. She’s set to perform at Wilderness Festival from 1st-4th August, Radio 1’s Summer by the River, and Neighbourhood Festival on 5th October.

Born and raised in Crystal Palace, Jasmine’s musical journey is as compelling as her sound. Inspired by her grandfather, a scenic painter for theatre and ballet, Jasmine initially pursued dance. However, her passion for music was ignited in college, where she began writing songs and experimenting with chords on an old keyboard. Her musical influences are as diverse as Joni Mitchell, Bon Iver, R&B icon Brandy, and the Hindi songs from Bollywood films she watched with her Gujarati grandmother.

With two EPs, Hurricane and Same Streets But I Don’t See You Around, Jasmine continues to evolve her craft. Her latest work promises to be her most enthralling yet, solidifying her place in the music industry.

Live Dates:
