Johnny Marr announces UK headline tour for April 2024

Johnny Marr will perform a slew of gigs at some of the country's most iconic venues this Spring.

Amidst a buzz of activity celebrating the first ten years of his prolific solo career, all wrapped up and packaged in the highly anticipated Spirit Power: The Best Of Johnny Marr, The Smiths guitarist and songwriter will begin at Newcastle’s O2 City Hall on 2 April before concluding at Nottingham’s Rock City on 14 April. Scroll down for all the dates.

The album itself, released on 3 November via BMG, also includes two brand new songs titled ‘Somewhere’ and ‘The Answer’, in addition to a number of unheard demos.

‘Somewhere’ has already started pricking ears, with Mojo Magazine describing it as “a glistening beam of choking guitars propelled by an electro-rock pulse”, whilst Clash Magazine commented on the “unmatched sense of electricity” as the song was added straight to the BBC 6 Music and Radio 2 playlists.

Two homecoming concerts, titled A Night with the Johnny Marr Orchestra, will take place at Manchester’s Factory International Aviva Studios on 7 and 8 December where, for the first time, Johnny and his band will be joined by a 30-piece orchestra, composed of some of the best musicians from across the North.
