King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard share three ‘The Silver Cord’ singles and video

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have shared three new singles from their forthcoming The Silver Cord album –  and a video that encompasses them all.

The Aussie band’s 25th studio album, The Silver Cord will arrive at the end of this month, 27 October.

As a mark of their prolific streak, it will be the follow-up to the ludicrously-titled PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation, which was released as recently as June.

To mark the arrival of the new album, the band have shared three new singles today – ‘Set’, ‘Theia’ and The Silver Cord’s title track – all of which have been combined into one single video, which you can watch below.

The album has been suggested as being a foray into the world of electronic music, adding to the band’s reputation for experimentalism (a reminder that June’s LP was a thrash metal album).

It will be available in standard and extended editions, and of the two versions, the band’s Stu Mackenzie has said: “The first version’s really condensed, trimming all the fat. And on the second version, that first song, ‘Theia’, is 20 minutes long.

“It’s the “everything” version – those seven songs you’ve already heard on the first version, but with a whole lot of other shit we recorded while making it. It’s for the Gizz-heads.

“I love Donna Summer’s records with Giorgio Moroder, and I’d never listen to the short versions now – I’m one of those people who wants to hear the whole thing.

“We’re testing the boundaries of people’s attention spans when it comes to listening to music, perhaps – but I’m heavily interested in destroying such concepts.”

And for Gizz-heads, today is one to savour, as not only have three new tracks and a video been released, but the band have also been announced as headliners for next year’s Wide Awake Festival, at Brockwell Park – tickets for which are on sale now.
