British singer-songwriter Låpsley has released her latest EP, A Guilty Heart Can Never Rest. Featuring the standout track ‘Kerosene Dreams’, the EP gets stuck in to themes of toxic relationships and the impulse towards self-destruction.

This new project marks a significant step in Låpsley’s musical and emotional development, presenting a collection of songs characterised by plain frankness. The EP covers a range of personal experiences from dealing with infidelity in ‘4AM Ascension Day’ to confronting the emotions of seeing an ex move on in ‘Build A Man’, and tackling pervasive insecurities in ‘Angeles’.

Reflecting on her decade-long career as an independent artist, Låpsley has evolved from the teenage sensation who burst onto the scene with hits like ‘Hurt Me’ and ‘Operator’ from her debut album Long Way Home. Her subsequent albums, including Through Water, have seen her embrace more mature themes such as her queer identity and environmental concerns, earning her critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase.

Her third album, Cautionary Tales of Youth, released in 2023, continued this trend, capturing the complexities of young adulthood. Beyond her own recordings, Låpsley has also made her mark as a songwriter for other artists, contributing to hits across the pop music spectrum.

Now 27, Låpsley remains committed to using her platform to address a variety of issues, from politics and mental health to sustainability and the dynamics of the music industry.
