Manic Street Preachers and Suede are joining forces for a historic UK and Ireland tour next summer.
Renowned Britpop bands Manic Street Preachers and Suede have revealed plans for a collaborative tour across the UK and Ireland, slated for the summer of 2024. The two seminal acts initially joined forces for a European tour back in 1993. They rekindled this partnership last year for a stint in the US and have upcoming gigs scheduled in Japan for this winter. The bands will grace the UK and Ireland in June and July, with each set to perform approximately 16 songs over 75 minutes. The acts, to keep things egalitarian, will alternate headlining duties each evening. JUNE 2024 Friday 28 – Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod* JULY 2024 Tuesday 2 – Dublin Trinity College ** Friday 5 – Cardiff Castle * Wednesday 10 – Edinburgh Castle * Friday 12 – Manchester Castlefield Bowl * Saturday 13 – Leeds Millenium Square ** Thursday 18 – London Alexandra Palace Park ** *Manic Street Preachers close the show **Suede close the show Nick Wire (pictured above), the bassist and lyricist for Manic Street Preachers, said on BBC Breakfast, “We’ve both got a dedicated fanbase, but we do share a gene pool and a rabid denomination of fans. It’s because we never belonged to anything apart from ourselves. We were never part of grunge, we were never part of Britpop.” Wire further commented, “And we just looked better than anyone back then anyway.”

Suede’s Brett Anderson expressed similar sentiments: “It’s really inspiring to have a band that you love playing with you. It’s like a friendly competition.” Both bands have maintained their influence since their 90s heyday, and are recipients of the prestigious NME Godlike Genius Award. Manics frontman James Dean Bradfield emphasized the unique “symmetry” between the bands, stating, “They kind of share the same path as us. They’ve been through a few things and they’re still here.” Tickets for the tour will go on sale from 9am BST on Friday, 13th October.
