Ye has returned to Instagram with a rather unhappy-looking meal in probably one of the most bizarre collaborations of the year.
Always one to surprise, Kanye West has teamed up with Muji industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa with the first of what appears to be many redesigns for the fast-food chain.
The design of the package appears to be a cuboid-shaped burger with the food chain’s memorable ‘M’ sitting on the top. There is no official information currently as to when, where or for how long the edition of these boxes will run – if they do at all.
Ye has recently been toying with a fair amount of graphics and designs in his recent output it seems. Earlier this month, he released the music video for ‘Life of the Party’, in honour of Mother’s Day in the US.

Whilst this mysterious little box isn’t quite as intricate as complex as the deepfake technology used in that video, it nonetheless signifies his attempts to still try and surprise us. (Perhaps he feels threatened by the recent release of Kendrick Lamar’s critically-acclaimed new album – who also utilised deepfake technology in his video for ‘The Heart Part 5’).
It’s also the first Instagram post Ye has made since his account was suspended in March for violating the platform’s policies on hate speech, harassment and bullying. As reported by TMZ, this came after the rapper had made particular posts aimed at comedian and television host, Trevor Noah, who’d commented on Ye’s treatment of his ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
Now he’s back. Interestingly, the post’s caption has been written as though someone from Ye’s team wrote it for him. Either that, or he referred to himself in the third person – which, come to think of it, wouldn’t be that surprising.
